Newly Married Gay Couple, Excited To Exercise God Given Right To Divorce

After years of countless court battles and ballot propositions, newly wed couple Matt Chen and Ryan Chong look forward to exercising their right to legally divorce.

After Proposition 8 passed last year banning gay divorce, Matt and Ryan were worried that they may never be able to realize their dreams of getting married, buying a home and after years of living in pain due to neglect of their relationship, a God-given divorce.

All of that changed last Tuesday night when the Eighth District Court of Appeals court struck down Proposition 8 citing it illegal on the grounds ‘strict scrutiny’.

We just want to have the same rights every other straight couple has…the right to worry about splitting up joint assets, losing friends, trying to sell an overpriced house in a sinking housing market and figuring out who gets to take the property tax deduction on Form 1040, Schedule A -Ryan Chong

District Judge Richard Shermen stated: “straight couples having been getting divorced for thousands of years, how can we deny the same pain and anguish to gay couples?” Defense lawyer, Ricky Scrantorum stated that he would appeal the decision following District Judge Richard Shermen’s announcement.

The Gay National Association of America (GNAA) commended the court ruling and thanked all those who donated and supported the cause for gay divorce over the years.
